where you can read about Quidditch in French.
Yes, fans, this is not a site famous for sports news, but ya gotta hand it to those students at Vassar! Welcome to Quidditch for muggles.

  1. Utter silliness. Looks like fun!

We just had ultimate Frisbee--and at least one late-night foursquare game, doing instant math problems in rhythm. I think I'd rather run around with a broom, LOL.

  3. But their broomsticks don't lift them up to fly!

I'm not a huge Harry Potter fan. I read the first book and liked it, and I saw the first two movies. I didn't like movie No. 2 all that much, and I have not seen the rest. I do plan to read the final book in the series.

The main reason I rushed to see the first movie was to see how well the Quidditch game was done. I must admit that it was a delight to watch.

Coals will likely rain down on me for saying that I'm not a fervant admirer of the books and movies.

Re the Vassar game, running with a broomstick between one's legs definitely poses a challenge.

  5. Not everyone cares for the genre, Mimi, and I see no reason why one cannot say No thanks to it all. I have not read them all, though I have seen all the movies to date and have read the last two books and a couple of the earlier ones.

It is a disappointment that muggles lack the wherewithal to make their brooms fly. It is also, as you noted, a certain challenge and one that can lead to sundry injuries. But the silliness level trumps all and I thus find myself in hearty approval of the whole thing.

When I am finally published, I shall not call upon you to buy my books, though I might dare hope to be cheered on. When it comes to fantasy fiction the unofficial but very Anglican rubric on private confession obtains: all may, none must, some should.

  7. The long-haired one who acts as spokesperson? Him? Well, why do you think I posted this, silly contessa!

And congrats on being chosen by El Padre as Kewl Blogger, together with Caminante.
