Of course, I'm rather old-fashioned. Decoration Day is May 30 no matter which Monday people get off work.
Last year I was in a rather tender-hearted state and wept all through Memorial Day weekend. This time around I'm just tired (got to bed at 9:30 last night).
But what I want to share is something in my e-mail this morning from Pepper Marts, a grand firebrand in this diocese.
"One who finds his homeland sweet is still a tender beginner;
the one to whom every soil is as his native land is already strong;
but perfect is the one to whom the entire world is a place of exile."
--Hugh of St. Victor in the Didascalian III, 20
Beloved:
May we keep our eyes ever on the Commonwealth of God and its Justice
-- and never confuse it with anything less.
