Let's savor this moment

Barack Obama gives his victory speech in Des Moines.

A moving account of the excitement and the anxiety is provided by LowerManhattanite over at the Group News Blog (whence I obtained the video above).

UPDATE:
You may read the text of the speech over at Truthout.

Obama gave a wonderful, heartfelt speech. It was an exciting night. I like both Obama and Edwards, so I'm proud of them.

It was an exciting night, E'anna. Kept me up way past bedtime reading about it.

Hooray for the cousin's kid! I am encouraged by the youth turnout yesterday.

Thanks for the note on Constitution blogging. It is something of a civic obligation. I really don't know diddly about con law but I'm a citizen who can read and think about it. If just a few people are encouraged to read it and think about it, the posts will be well rewarded. It is a chore; I have no storehouse of ideas on this. Still, I think it's worth doing.

Are you (or is Blogger) calling me some kind of quirvy fairy? The very idea!

I wouldn't dare! It's all Blogger's fault.

It was a good night, and Obama gave a good speech, but I'm not getting too excited. I'm just not. I have been disappointed by Democrats too many times.

Show me, Obama - over a period of time. I give you the benefit of the doubt. That's all.

Full disclosure: I thought Edwards did well in the debate last night. I like him a lot, too.

It is always a gamble because we don't know what will happen if they're in the WH but I feel good about Edwards and Obama and would be thrilled if either of them wins (though Gore was my first choice).
