Speaking of rule of law

I am hugely disappointed in the Obama Department of Justice and Office of Legal Counsel on many fronts. This shit was not OK when Republicans did it and its NOT OK when Democrats do it.
But in a surprise buried at the end of the 289-page report, the inspector general also reveals that the Obama administration issued a secret rule almost two weeks ago saying it was legal for the FBI to have skirted federal privacy protections.

[snip]
The Obama administration retroactively legalized the entire fiasco via a secret ruling from the Office of Legal Counsel.
[Emphasis mine]

Go read more at Emptywheel's Obama Gorging Himself on Poison Fruit.

I intend to hold ALL presidents accountable.

And, my dear Paul, do not forget what the Supreme Court did today...sold out American politics to the highest bidder...

:sigh:

Yes, Tracie, m'luv, I certainly noticed as I had been watching the signs it was coming. No surprise yet still a huge disappointment. Bush did his work well.

Grrrrrrrrrrr.

I posted on that also tonight.

I can take a tiny bit of comfort in it though because the ruling enables the labor unions to participate in this as a corporate body, and seeing as how Joe is a union stagehand, I can only hope that unions like IATSE and the Teamsters and Carpenters and Ironworkers and whatnot use this opportunity with some intelligence...

God willing...

:D

Unions don't have the sums to compeete, surely?
