Sunday reflections

For the message about the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. (1 Corinthians 1:18)

CRUX fidelis,
inter omnes
arbor una nobilis;
nulla talem silva profert,
flore, fronde, germine.
Dulce lignum, dulci clavo,
dulce pondus sustinens!

FAITHFUL Cross!
above all other,
one and only noble Tree!
None in foliage, none in blossom,
none in fruit thy peers may be;
sweetest wood and sweetest iron!
Sweetest Weight is hung on thee!
--Venantius Fortunatus, tr. Edward Caswall

Sticking with the classics tonight.

Good post. The cross makes no sense to so many and did not make sense to me... well it is not about sense, it is beyond my words really.

Thank you.

Nothing wrong with the classics. Classics are good.

At first, I typed "food" instead of "good", but sometimes the classics are food.

Indeed they are, Grandmère. Indeed they are.
