City of God Appeal - Day 17

From MadPriest at OCICBW today:
And this is good news, too.

Our new total is:

$5583.40

This does not include the donation of $200 from the Californian church that Lisbeth mentioned the other day.

The OCICBW... Community Christmas Appeal this year is raising money to help pay for the work being done by the Anglican Church of Christ the King in the City Of God district of Rio De Janeiro. Full details about the project and how to send your gifts can be found HERE.

You will note that I included the $200 in the graphic above.

C'mon folks, you know we can hit $10,000 before we're through. Let's make it happen. Those wonderful kids in the favela need all the love we can send them.

Mimi's example reminds me that those who are not into all that "click on through" bit and using Paypal might want to do the paper and snail-mail thing. So here's how:

In the U.K. cheques (made payable to "St. Francis Church") should be sent to:

CITY OF GOD APPEAL,
St. Francis House
18 Cotswold Gardens
High Heaton
Newcastle Upon Tyne
NE7 7AE

Please write "City Of God Appeal" on the reverse of the cheque.

In the United States, cheques (made payable to "The Episcopal Church of St. Paul") should be sent to:

CITY OF GOD APPEAL
c/o The Reverend Elizabeth Kaeton
The Episcopal Church of St. Paul
200 Main Street
Chatham, NJ 07928

Please write "City Of God Appeal" on the front of the check.
O God, our Saviour, in whose paths of love is the secret of all of life and the hope of every person, give us courage, give us peace to confront this day and hour. We did not choose to be born nor to live in such a time as this. Permit us, however, to be challenged by the problems, to draw hope from the discoveries, to be filled with anger at the injustices, to be inspired by the responsibilities, to be renewed by your strength, through the love of your Kingdom.

O God, we thank you for the glorious opportunities we have to build a new society of peace, justice and love, where we can praise and worship you.

Help us, we ask, to stand courageously, to work with love and to live in hope, through the love of Christ. Amen.
