As a child in the 50s, I grew up on an old 45 record of Caruso singing this. I was repeatedly enchanted.
The singing here is truly delightful but (i'm sorry to say) the bassoon playing leaves something to be desired.
True, Ellie. But I was NOT going to put up a video of Pavarotti whom I have always considered overrated. I almost did the tenor from the performance I have posted from but thought a change might be nice.
And tomorrow I get to hear the whole thing live. Again. How cool.
