Una furtiva lacrima

We continue listening to bits of Donizetti's L'Elisir d'amore. Tonight Nemorino's most famous aria:

Juan Diego Florez "Una furtiva lagrima"

Enjoy!

Oh, just luscious! (But you knew I would say that.)

As a child in the 50s, I grew up on an old 45 record of Caruso singing this. I was repeatedly enchanted.

The singing here is truly delightful but (i'm sorry to say) the bassoon playing leaves something to be desired.

True, Ellie. But I was NOT going to put up a video of Pavarotti whom I have always considered overrated. I almost did the tenor from the performance I have posted from but thought a change might be nice.

And tomorrow I get to hear the whole thing live. Again. How cool.
