Army Spc. William Justin McClellan, 22, a New Castle native who grew up in Indianapolis, died Nov. 6 at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C., where he was recovering from the injuries he suffered in January when his truck hit a roadside bomb in Iraq.

May he rest in peace and rise in glory.

Thank you, Paul, for this constant reminder of the losses in U.S. troops, and for the facts and faces that make them real. Such young and often sweet-faced people, like Justin here. What a loss and what a waste. I honor their service and mourn that they had to serve in this way.

Look at that beautiful young man - he was somebody's baby, somebody's little boy, somebody's eager student.

He trusted us to use his gift of service wisely, and look what we did to him.

I hope we can do better for those who follow him into the service of our country, and that Justin can forgive us for sacrificing him on the altar of our greed.
