The Office of Professional Responsibility (OPR) has had some less-than-flattering things to say about the quality of the Yoo and Bybee memos (the torure memos) prepared for the Bush Office of Legal Counsel (OLC).I suggest you read it all here if you have any interest in the slow progress toward justice with regards to the justification offered for torture.
Mcjoan concludes:
It's the process, baby. The question of "how the memos were crafted" is the key question from a political standpoint, particularly for a Senate Judiciary Committee that is primed to investigate. Looking at the e-mails of the back and forth of the memos in process, leading to who might have been pressuring for the conclusions, will be important information for Leahy's committee.
As an aside, anyone want to take best [bets?] on whether that e-mail trail leads to David Addington?
As for me, I'd say David Addington (Cheney's former chief of staff) is at the center of it all. He is one evil mofo.
