It's from a couple of days ago but still...

... incredibly illuminating. Or... the reverse. Does Bush actually suck intelligence out of the universe?

LOL. Jane, although I had some spare Tums in my pocket just in case, I partook of no hot foods - and a huge national convention of nothing but! I am helping out my friend Chuck, who's been in the candy business for 25 years as Chuck's Nuts, though now going more upscale as C. G. Higgins Confections. They have many varieites of brittles, caramel corn, and fudges - some with and some without chile. This year they are intoducing really elegant Artisan Hot Chocolate: ground dark Guitard chocolate from San Francisco along with ground almonds and vanilla bean. That's the basic mix for European dark chocolate. Then there are the variants: lavender chocolate with lavender flowers from northern New Mexico, Mexican with cinnamon bark, and chipotle chocolate with a hint of cinnamon and chipotle chile. I spent most of my time pouring samples of those elegant drinks. For lunch I had a turkey sandwich. I had a bit of my favorite butter pecan brittle. And that's it.

I had a disgustingly healthy dinner involving the excellent portobello mushrooms I rambled about yesterday. And I wrote a paper proposal for AAR. And more of my sermon. On which I am going to put a finish touch and then off to bed I go. Oh the joys of 11 a.m. liturgy! I'll actually get (almost) enough sleep.

The Artisan Hot Chocolate sounds wonderful.

I'll take two, please, though not tonight. Or maybe three -- one of each, not all at the same time.

CHUCK'S NUTS?! That's almost as good as the guy at the Berkeley Farmer's Market with the fabulous pistachios who is the Happy Nuts man.

Well, he definitely sucks.

Oh dear. I am so glad that I spent all of Friday and Saturday not taking in any news.

WTF?

I fall to my knees in prayer - God have mercy on us. Please. Save us from this please.

That gas prices bit at the end is amazing.

It's not the heat, it is the stupidity.
