Your Advent Ferlinghetti

Walt over at My Two Cents has posted Lawrence Ferlinghetti's poem "Christ Climbed Down," written in 1958. I think it merits a read, so click on over.

Here's the beginning to whet your appetite:
Christ climbed down
from His bare Tree
this year
and ran away to where
there were no rootless Christmas trees
hung with candycanes and breakable stars

Wow! Talk about a blast from the past...

It must be years and years and years since I read that. Ferlinghetti always seemed to me to be the neglected genius out of himself, Ginsberg and Corso...

I love that! (I really love the end.) Thank you.

Wow, I had not seen/read that in a very long time- thanks for this. Perfect really. And like kirstin says- the end is powerful. It is all powerful!

Walt used to hang over to Blonde Sense: past sins coming storming in.

Well, hell, all y'all get in line.
