I am a total softie

I saw this on Crooks and Liars earlier today (before Russian class) and I broke down and cried. Not because of the singing. Stephen Colbert did a credible job of singing baritone along with John Legend. But it was the national anthem and I wept for America.

May we become free again!

Kathy e-mailed me:
You wept during the Colbert Report? I had tears in my eyes as I stood up from sitting on my bed crocheting and sang the anthem with Legend and Colbert. (And by the way, what an awesome voice Legend has! Damn!)

My dear, you know it's people like us, who still weep at the sound of our countries "song", who still believe in what our country used to mean, who fight every day and night to restore it to it's former glory...or at least usher in a new and improved version of it...that keep this country what it is. All the Bushes and Cheneys and Hestons and their ilk are like the little boy crying wolf, but shitting on our ideal and our beliefs behind our backs cannot and will NOT pull our country down into ruin.
