Heart Thread - 04/07/2009

My friend Kathy had requested prayers for a coworker. Here is an update:
On the baby and coworker (with the baby who was failing to thrive) - the baby has gained weight and is cooing and happy after surgery to correct the chronic problem.
Please thank everyone who kept this little guy and his mother in your thoughts and prayers.
May you all walk in the light.
Great-grandniece Clara is up to 3 pounds 1 ounce and Olivia has reached 2 pounds.

As we pray for Roseann, she is praying for all of us. What a gracious lady! (Check here and here.)

We remember those held in the light at OCICBW.

Mimi has a beautiful meditation this evening. If you have not read it yet, I commend it to you.

Pseudopiskie asks our prayers for WF and WFH.

Kirstin has not posted since spring break but we know this semester is very demanding as she continues her medical regimen.

Liturgical purists need to repent and the rest of us might pray for the soul of Fluffy who has posted music with the "Easter word" during Lent. Then again, if we were all Orthodox we would proudly sing Alleluia all year long. The "Byz-" in our title betrays some of my inclinations.

Let us remember Diane's father-in-law who has severe pneumonia.

Alcibiades shares a message from Bosco Peters following the death of daughter Catherine:
Bosco, Helen, and Jonathan are deeply thankful for the thoughtfulness of so many since Catherine died. Through kind words, hugs, flowers, gifts to Oxfam, prayers, recalling stories, baking, and practical help, so many people have shared in this great loss and are supporting us in it. Together we share our gratefulness for the years with our gorgeous, smiling, vivacious, quirky, kind-hearted Catherine. Thank you for supporting, remembering, and celebrating, and for keeping us in your thoughts and prayers.
Let us also remember the "larger" world:

I offer thanks for the legislature of Vermont and the supreme court of Iowa who have acted on behalf of equal rights for all citizens.

O God, you made us in your own image and redeemed us through Jesus your Son: Look with compassion on the whole human family; take away the arrogance and hatred which infect our hearts; break down the walls that separate us, unite us in bonds of love; and work through our struggle and confusion to accomplish your purposes on earth; that, in your good time, all nations and races may serve you in harmony around your heavenly throne; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Prayers for all. Thanks for taking the time to do this, Paul.

And the medics helped the torturers. Sigh....
