Mozambique pays a visit

I just noticed the 101st flag today from Mozambique. Welcome to our first visitor from that nation!

This gave me the opportunity to learn a new word today: lusophone. Is that a cool word or what? It means Portuguese-speaking. I use francophone all the time so it's nice to have this similar word in the old vocabulary.

Mozambique is one of the lusophone nations that form the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (Comunidade dos Países de Língua Portuguesa - CPLP). The others are Portugal, Brazil, Angola, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique, São Tomé and Príncipe, and East Timor. Mozambique is also a member of the Commonwealth, the only nation to do so that was not part of the British Empire. Maputo is the capital.

Enjoy!

If I am correct, had John Kerry won (not that I adore John Kerry, but... it is obvious) not only would things be different, but we would have had a Mozambiquean(?) First Lady.

I believe that is where Teresa Heinz Kerry is from.

On vacation and bad connection, so no time for googlin'!
